One sunny afternoon, as Ari walked home from school, she spotted a small, grey cat.
The cat looked lost and hungry, with its fur matted and eyes wide. Ari paused.
She remembered her teacher saying, 'Help those in need.' She approached the cat slowly.
Offering her hand, Ari let the cat sniff. 'It's ok,' she whispered. The cat blinked.
Ari smiled gently. 'I'll call you Whiskers.' The cat meowed softly in response.
She decided to take Whiskers home. 'Don't worry, I'll take care of you,' Ari said.
Ari and Whiskers walked, the cat now purring, nudging Ari's leg as they went.
At home, Ari gave Whiskers some milk and a cozy blanket to lie on.
Whiskers looked up with grateful eyes and licked Ari's hand, a thank you.
Ari's heart felt full. She knew they would be friends, caring for each other.
That night, they curled up together, a girl and her new furry friend, in peace.
Ari promised to find Whiskers' home, but if she couldn't, 'You'll be mine,' she said.
