Once upon a time, there was a little yellow duck named Duckie. Duckie loved swimming in the pond and quacking happily. But one day, Duckie felt lonely. 'Where are all the children?' Duckie wondered.
Duckie decided to search for the children. 'Quack quack!' Duckie called out, hopping along the riverbank. 'Have you seen any children?' But the squirrels just chittered and shook their furry heads, and the fish swam away too quickly to answer.
Feeling discouraged, Duckie plopped down on a lily pad, feeling downcast. Suddenly, out of the corner of Duckie's eye, a colorful butterfly fluttered by. 'Excuse me, beautiful butterfly,' Duckie quacked with hope, 'Have you seen any children?' The butterfly smiled and pointed towards a tall tree.
Duckie waddled over to the tree and looked up. Sitting on a branch was a giggling boy. 'Hello!' Duckie quacked cheerfully. 'I've been looking for children to play with.' The boy's eyes widened in surprise. 'Wow, a talking duck!' he exclaimed. 'I've never met a duck who talks, but I'd love to be your friend.'
From that day on, Duckie and the boy became the best of friends. They swam together in the pond, played hide-and-seek, and shared many giggles. Duckie realized that sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of confidence to find a wonderful friend.
