In a cozy home with his teddy bear tight, young Liam declared, 'No sleep for me tonight!'
Mama asked Liam, 'Why do you resist? For dreams are like treasures, too precious to miss.'
'But Mama,' said Liam, 'the night's not for me. I'd rather have adventures where everyone can see!'
Mama smiled gently and sat by his side, 'Son, moonlight brings wonders that daylight can't hide.'
With a heave and a sigh, Liam gave a small nod. 'Tell me, dear Mama, what's there beyond the facade?'
She spoke of a land where the sleepies did dash, 'Over pillows and blankets, they make a great splash!'
Liam giggled and wriggled, the image was grand. 'Can I race with the sleepies in that soft, pillowy land?'
'First you must close your eyes, just like this,' Mama said, 'And drift to that place, lying down in your bed.'
Liam shut his eyes tight, he was ready to leap. 'To the land of the sleepies, let's go in my sleep!'
As the moonlight shone through, he relaxed and he sighed. With a whisper, he murmured, 'Night's not so bad,' and smiled.
Mama kissed his forehead, 'Sweet dreams, my dear light.' She whispered, 'I love you,' and bid him goodnight.
In dreams, Liam ran with the sleepies in tow. He had found the night's magic, letting go of his 'no.'
