Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, lived a little girl named Mai. She had bright eyes and an even brighter smile!
Mai lived with her grandma at the edge of a HUGE jungle. Grandma always said, "Mai, be careful in the jungle! It's full of surprises!"
One day, Mai decided to be brave. She put on her lucky hat, the one with the fluffy pom-pom, and tiptoed into the jungle.
The jungle was big and green and full of funny noises. Monkeys chattered, birds chirped, and somewhere, a tiger ROARED! But Mai wasn't scared, not one bit.
She skipped along a twisty path until she came to a clearing. In the middle stood the biggest tree Mai had EVER seen! It was a mango tree, and it was magnificent!
Suddenly, the ground began to SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE! The leaves on the mango tree rustled and swished. Mai held her breath.
From behind the giant mango tree peeked a GIANT! He was taller than the trees, wider than a house, and he had a booming voice.
"BOO!" roared the giant, and Mai giggled. He wasn't scary at all. In fact, he looked a little bit sad.
"Why are you sad, Mr. Giant?" asked Mai. The giant sighed. "I'm lonely. No one wants to play with me because I'm too big."
"That's silly!" said Mai. "I'll play with you! Let's play hide-and-seek! You're so big, you'll never find me!"
The giant laughed, a sound like rumbling thunder. Mai squeezed her eyes shut and counted, "One, two, three…"
When she opened her eyes, the giant was gone! Mai giggled and searched behind trees, under leaves, and even behind a tiny mushroom.
Finally, she found him! He was hiding behind his giant mango tree, but his big toe was sticking out. "Found you!" squealed Mai.
