Once upon a time, in a sunny yard, a small brown puppy named Max played all alone.
He chased his tail, he barked at bugs, but something was missing. Max wanted a friend.
One day, a little bird with a bright red crest landed on the fence and chirped hello.
Max wagged his tail with joy. 'Would you like to be my friend?' asked Max eagerly.
The bird tilted its head and tweeted, 'I'd love to! But can you fly up here with me?'
Max jumped and leaped, but his paws never left the ground. 'I can't fly,' Max said sadly.
'That's okay!' chirped the bird. 'We can play in many other ways, Max.'
They decided to play tag. Max would run and the bird would flap around the yard.
Max had the best time chasing his new friend, and the bird loved darting in the sky.
'You're great at flying, and I love to run!' Max panted happily after the game.
The bird perched beside Max. 'And that's what makes us both special in our ways,' it sang.
From that day on, Max knew that having a friend was the best adventure of all.
