Once upon a time, in a sunny, patchy field, lived a happy donkey named Donny. Donny loved munching on bright, green grass every day.
One day, while Donny was chomping away, he heard a rustle in the bushes. He looked up and saw a wolf with sharp teeth, running straight towards him!
'Oh no!' thought Donny. 'That wolf wants to eat me!' Donny's heart raced but he had an idea, a clever plan indeed.
He pretended that his foot was hurt, whimpering and limping, making it look very real to trick the wolf. 'I can't run,' he said. 'My foot is hurt!'
The wolf slowed down, licking his lips. 'Oh, this should be easy,' he thought, grinning a toothy grin.
Donny then started walking on his hind legs, still limping. Each step was slow and painful-looking. Tap. Tap. Tap.
The wolf was confused. 'Do donkeys walk on two legs?' he wondered. He stopped to scratch his head and think.
Donny took this chance to inch closer to the forest edge. Tap. Tap. Tap. He was careful, making sure his act was believable.
When Donny got near enough, he used a bush to hide his quick, final escape. He bolted into the forest. Zoom!
The wolf, realizing he was tricked, growled. 'Aargh! That donkey was smart!'
Donny laughed and trotted away, still in the forest. He had used his brain to stay safe and sound.
From that day on, Donny remembered to stay alert and always think on his feet, or hooves! He loved grazing but knew safety came first.
