I never thought I'd find myself hiding in the janitor's closet at school, but there I was. My name is Jamie, and I was playing hide and seek with my friends. I squeezed in between mops and buckets, my heart sounded like drums in my ears.
That's when I heard voices. It was Mr. Silvers, the science teacher, and Mrs. Pint, the librarian. They were talking about a hidden treasure buried under our school! I couldn't believe my ears. A treasure at Sunnyvale High!
I was bursting to tell someone, but I had to be a super spy now. So, I stayed as quiet as a mouse, listening. They said the treasure had a secret map, hidden in an old book in the library!
Once they left, I tiptoed to the library. It was like a giant maze of books. My friends were searching for me, so I had to be fast! I looked at every old book I could find.
Then, I found it! A dusty book with a loose page – the map! Just as I grabbed it, my friend Max found me. 'You're it!' he said, but I just smiled. 'Want to look for real treasure?'
With my friends, we followed the map. It had clues and riddles, leading us all over the school. We felt like pirates on an adventure, laughing and guessing where to go next.
The final clue led us outside, to the old oak tree. We dug and found a time capsule! It was full of treasures from kids who went to school here long ago. The real treasure was the adventure we shared!
