Once in a small village in China, there was a clever farmer named Li. He was fed up with waiting for rabbits, so he sat by a tree hoping for one to appear.
While he was thinking about his fields, a mischievous rabbit hopped along and saw the farmer. 'Hey there, why are you just sitting here?' the rabbit asked curiously.
Li was surprised. 'I'm waiting for a rabbit to come to me,' he said. The rabbit laughed, 'You silly farmer, rabbits won't just come to you because you wait!'
But Li didn't believe the rabbit. So, he marked the spot where he sat and went about his work. To his amazement, the rabbit returned with some friends, trying to trick the farmer.
The cunning rabbit said, 'Look, we can make the farmer stay here all day while we eat his vegetables!' They all laughed, thinking they had outsmarted the farmer.
Just then, Li returned and caught the rabbits. 'Ha! I knew you would come back. But I am smarter than you think!'
The rabbit was astonished. 'How did you know we would return?' Li replied with a grin, 'I may not be able to catch a live rabbit, but I know enough about their tricks!'
