Way, way up high, higher than the clouds could fly, lived a family of squirrels with bushy tails so spry.
There was Papa Squirrel, with a nut always in his whirl, Mama Squirrel, who loved to twirl, and their little ones, Skip and Twirl, always ready for a swirl of fun!
One sunny day, Skip looked up at the tree that seemed to touch the sky and declared, "I'm going to race to the tippy top! Who's coming with me?"
"The tippy top?" gasped Twirl, her eyes wide as a pearl. "But Skip, it's so high, we might touch the sky!"
Papa chuckled, his belly rumbling like a grumble, "It IS high, little ones. But think of the view from up above! You'll see the whole world, even Mrs. Dove!"
"We can do it!" squeaked Skip, his tail twitching with glee. And so began the great race to the top of the world's tallest tree!
Up and up they climbed, past branches thick and thin, leaves whispering secrets in the wind.
Skip, being the fastest, scampered ahead, with Twirl close behind, her heart filled with dread.
"Don't worry, Twirl!" shouted Skip, clinging to a branch, "We're almost there! Just a little more panache!"
Twirl, gathering her courage, took a deep breath and climbed, her tiny paws gripping tight, determined not to be left behind.
Finally, they reached the very top! The world stretched out before them, a magnificent, never-ending spot.
They laughed and hugged, proud of their climb, the view from the top, truly a sight sublime!
From that day on, Skip and Twirl learned that even the highest heights could be reached, as long as they had each other, and a little bit of heart.
