Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a little girl named Sophie. Sophie loved hearing bedtime stories from her grandmother, especially the ones that took place a long time ago, called "Il y a fort longtemps." One beautiful night, as Sophie snuggled into her cozy bed, her grandmother came to tuck her in. "Oh, Mamie," Sophie started, "Tell me a special 'Il y a fort longtemps' story tonight!"
Her grandmother smiled and began, "Il y a fort longtemps, in a land filled with magic and wonders, there was a brave knight named Arthur. This knight loved adventures and was always on the lookout for new quests." "One day, while riding through a dense forest, Arthur discovered a hidden cave. As he stepped inside, he found himself surrounded by shimmering treasure. It was breathtaking!"
"But what Arthur didn't know was that this treasure belonged to a powerful dragon named Draco. The dragon was furious when he discovered Arthur's presence and woke up from his deep slumber." "Draco, being an ancient and wise dragon, knew that Arthur didn't mean to steal the treasure. So instead of attacking him, Draco offered him a choice. If Arthur could solve three riddles, Draco would let him keep the treasure."
Sophie's wide eyes were fixed on her grandmother, and she eagerly asked, "What were the riddles, Mamie?" With a gleam in her eyes, her grandmother continued, "The first riddle was, 'I can be cracked, made, told, and played. What am I?'"
"Arthur thought hard and finally shouted, 'It must be a Joke!' Draco smiled, impressed with the knight's intelligence." "Excited to solve the second riddle, Draco asked, 'What has a heart that doesn't beat?'"
"Arthur scratched his head while thinking carefully. Then he shouted, 'It's a painting!' Draco couldn't believe how smart the young knight was!" "The third and final riddle was the hardest of them all. Draco asked, 'I have cities but no houses, forests but no trees, and rivers but no fish. What am I?'"
"Arthur thought and thought, but this riddle seemed impossible. Suddenly, he got an idea. 'It's a map!' he exclaimed with a triumphant smile." "Draco was astonished by Arthur's intelligence and bravery. He decided to let the knight keep some of the treasure, as a reward for his cleverness and quick thinking."
Sophie beamed with joy as her grandmother finished the story. "Wow, that was amazing, Mamie! Arthur was so clever!" Her grandmother nodded and whispered, "Yes, my dear Sophie, he was indeed. He showed us that sometimes being smart and thinking outside the box can help us overcome any challenge, no matter how big or scary it may seem."
As Sophie drifted off to sleep, she dreamed of brave knights, magical dragons, and the treasures that lay hidden in the depths of the world. And she knew that she, too, could be just as clever and brave as Arthur in her own adventures, no matter where or when they took place.
