In the rippling waters of Wonder Pond, lived Tilly, a turtle so fond. With her shell so bright and green, she was the truest turtle ever seen.
Tilly’s friends adored her so, for Tilly had a truthful glow. She always said just what she meant, never a lie, her words were sent.
One sunny day, the friends did play, a game of hide and seek, hooray! Tilly found the perfect spot, beside an old and shady plot.
Bobby the Braggy Beaver came, boasting loudly about his fame. 'I know the bestest hiding place! No one can beat me in a race!'
But then a fib did Bobby tell, about a place deep in a well. 'I saw a tunnel down so deep, follow me if you do seek!'
The friends were curious to see, but Tilly thought it couldn't be. 'Tunnels in wells are risky,’ she said, Rolling her eyes, then shaking her head.
Bobby huffed and guffawed real loud, 'Tilly, you’re such a doubting cloud. Follow me, I'll show you quick; we’ll find that tunnel with a trick!'
Down they went, the friends in tow, to find the tunnel down below. The well was dark and oh so deep, giving all the friends the creep.
Bobby slipped and slid about, then he gave an alarmed shout! 'No tunnel here, I made it up!' He cried and hoped they’d help him up.
Tilly didn’t frown or pout, instead, she thought and helped him out. 'You see,' she said, 'what fibs can do? Next time, let's all be truthful too.'
From that day forth at Wonder Pond, the friends kept their truthful bond. Lies were left for rusty shelves; they stayed true to their real selves.
So if you ever tell a tale, make it true, do not derail. For honesty is pure and bright, as it fills our hearts with light.
