Kaleb kicked the dusty ball against the fence. His dog, Sparky, watched.
He imagined scoring the winning goal as a stadium roared with cheers.
By evening, Kaleb’s feet ached, but he smiled. 'Practice makes perfect,' he whispered.
The next day, Kaleb stumbled during practice. His friends sighed.
Sparky licked Kaleb's face. 'Thanks, pal. I won't give up,' Kaleb said.
His coach noticed his effort. 'Keep it up, Kaleb. You're improving,' he encouraged.
Kaleb juggled the football with his knees, counting each tap loudly.
Rain poured, but Kaleb continued to play, soaked but unfazed.
Game day arrived. Kaleb felt nervous butterflies flutter in his stomach.
With the score tied, Kaleb saw his chance and ran for the ball.
His foot met the ball with a thud, sending it flying into the goal!
His teammates hoisted him up, chanting his name. 'Kaleb! Kaleb!'
